Pegaz, an 8-year-old gelding, came to his new home in May 2025 after a period of severe neglect. Complete blindness in both eyes, recurrent inflammations, severe emaciation, muscle atrophy, problems with the musculoskeletal system and later papillomatosis – all of this meant that he was a horse requiring comprehensive care: medical, nutritional, rehabilitative and emotional. An additional burden was his strong reactivity to sound and touch stimuli, typical for blind horses, resulting in “blind” bolting and a high level of chronic stress.
In this case study, the owner describes Pegaz’s recovery process and the effects of supporting him with Hempqualizer+. Attention is drawn to three key areas in which improvement occurred after introducing the preparation:
- regulation of emotions and reduction of stress levels,
- support with recurrent eye inflammations and overall regeneration of the body,
- an unexpected effect on wart-like lesions (papillomatosis).
Name: Pegaz, commonly called Xiao, Ślepuś
Age: 8 years
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Unknown (NN)
Our story begins in May 2025. Pegaz came to us from Kołobrzeg, where he had been rescued from severe neglect. First he went to an acquaintance, and then he came to me.
He was diagnosed as a blind horse. Frequent relapses of eye inflammations and lack of proper intervention led to complete blindness in both eyes (although, jokingly, we say that he definitely likes looking into the camera in photos). Due to extreme emaciation, it was clear how much he had wasted away. You could count every rib, and the muscles were completely invisible – colloquially speaking, he simply had none. Hempqualizer+ was recommended to us by the owner of the livery yard where we are stabled, who spoke very highly of its versatile effects.
PROBLEMS
I consider Pegaz’s return to health to be good overall, but since we started using Hempqualizer+, it means we must have encountered some problems… starting with his eyes. Already previously sensitive and prone to inflammation, they had a tendency to become red, watery or purulent. We used fly masks, rinsing with saline, special drops with colloidal silver, supplements and antibiotics, but all it took was one stronger gust of wind or a single fly for the eyes to flare up again. I was looking for something that would soothe these inflammations.
Next – the musculoskeletal system. After such emaciation and lack of muscles, it is obvious that Pegaz unfortunately was not in great shape. During his recovery, I was looking for something that would support tissue regeneration and his return to health – reduce inflammations, help his hooves, frogs, muscles and joints. Rehabilitation was introduced: short walks, work with a physiotherapist and farrier, supplements such as MSM or spirulina (which is also known for its beneficial effects on the eyes), and hoof care products.
And finally, the last and most important thing for me – bringing him peace. The situation is stressful enough for him as it is: he cannot see and has to rely on someone else. Very often, rustling or sudden sounds made him start to bolt “blindly”, very often running into fences or rails. On walks, he tended to walk fast in a way that clearly came from stress, or to jump sideways. And while this might not be a big problem with a “normal” horse, a blind horse can jump aside so unfortunately that he hits a tree or simply trips over a branch and falls, or lands in a ditch. We tried desensitising him, “showing” him plastic bags, breaking branches, groundwork, and he was also given herbs intended to calm his fears.
And the most important thing – patience and calmness on the part of the owner. As his owner, I always tried to remain calm and think for the two of us – after all, I am the one who leads him and has to show him that no scary plastic bag or branch will eat him as long as he is with me. His peace and relief were key and the most important part of the whole Hempqualizer+ effect for me, because stress leads to many diseases such as ulcers, lack of proper sleep, a state of constant readiness to flee, muscle tension and a general state of constant worry and stress.
The last thing, which surprised me the most and which helped – papillomatosis. Unfortunately, due to poor immunity and rapidly changing temperatures, Pegaz caught a cold – snot, cough, all that stuff. The beginning of our battle with the illness was at the turn of August and September. At the same time, warts started to appear on his nose and in his ears, and week by week they looked worse and were getting bigger. Unfortunately, they also started to crack or rub and bleed. Of course, the vet was called; he prescribed antibiotics and an immunobooster. In addition, we got an oral preparation and a recommendation to use PapiVet. Friends recommended echinacea, rosehip and vitamin C. Hempqualizer+ arrived for us at the end of October; at first we gave 1 ml and a few days later we increased it to 2 ml.
To my greatest surprise, after the Hempqualizer+ course the warts shrank and are now almost invisible. This was my biggest surprise, because many people recommend either PapiVet cream or herbs, and some say to leave it because “it will disappear by itself”. In short – despite using the above-mentioned products from mid-August/September until the end of October, there was no improvement at all; I could even say that the warts were spreading.
EFFECTS OF USING HEMPQUALIZER+
In conclusion, after using Hempqualizer+ the biggest changes I noticed were in his emotions – he is much calmer and rustling sounds are less frightening. The absence of stress and his relaxation were crucial for me, because a horse that is not constantly stressed is a horse that gets sick less often. You can see that he finally feels peace and safety when standing in the pasture or going into the forest. His eyes are also less bloodshot, the whites of his eyes are whiter, and the inflammation has not returned. Pegaz has also gained weight, and Hempqualizer+ has supported his overall regeneration. My biggest positive surprise, however, was the help with the warts, which I thought would never go away or “maybe disappear someday…”.
SUMMARY
Today, when I look at Pegaz, my brave blind warrior, I see a horse who, despite his disability – the lack of sight – is regaining not only health, but also joy in life. From a horse who (probably) thought that nothing better was waiting for him in life, he has become a calm, trusting partner who can confidently walk by my side, even though he cannot see the world around him.
Hempqualizer+ has become one of the elements that truly support his return to health.
Today, Pegaz is no longer just a horse with a difficult past. He is living proof that love, patience and proper care can achieve more than we could ever expect. And although he cannot see the world, the world has finally started to make sense to him and has brought him some joy. Now I know that we are moving forward together – more calmly, more confidently and with enormous gratitude for every small step forward, every little improvement and every single adventure we experience together
