Narwik is a very delicate horse, prone to illness.
A chronic laminitis sufferer, with Cushing’s disease. Since October last year, he had been struggling with an increasingly severe cough.
Initially diagnosed with pneumonia, he went through several rounds of broad-spectrum antibiotics and was supported with supplements.
The cough persisted and eventually developed into shallow breathing and dyspnea.

A different vet diagnosed RAO. We started steroid therapy — which helped with breathing, but only temporarily. The cough remained.
Narwik underwent two weeks of inhalations with a mucolytic agent containing ectoine. The coughing weakened, but not enough.
