Westfalia L is a 12-year-old jumping mare who, despite her extensive experience and good training preparation, continued to struggle with excessive sensitivity to stimuli at shows – especially in the warm-up arena. Tension, distraction and strong reactions to the environment affected the quality of her rounds and made it difficult to show her full potential. This case study describes how introducing Hempqualizer Compete helped Westfalia regulate her emotions better, maintain her energy without excessive nervousness, and switch into a more “task-focused” working mode at competitions.
Westfalia L is a 12-year-old mare who competes regularly in showjumping classes. Despite her experience and solid training, her biggest issue was nervousness in new situations, especially in the warm-up. She is an intelligent but very sensitive horse. Every stimulus, every movement or louder sound could immediately knock her out of rhythm. Already in the first minutes of warm-up, Westfalia would start to tense up. She became alert, looked around, and reacted to other horses and the surroundings. On the course, she could sometimes be tight, which made it more difficult to achieve a smooth, confident round. The tension often translated into small mistakes, such as not being fully focused on the rider and reduced suppleness over the fences.
At one show, I decided to give Westfalia Hempqualizer Compete. Already at this same competition, I noticed a significant difference. The mare was calmer, accepted the environment more quickly, and worked in a more even rhythm in the warm-up arena. She wasn’t distracted, which allowed her to enter the ring more relaxed and ready to work.
The difference became even more apparent when I once forgot to give the product. I immediately felt that Westfalia was more tense and restless, reacted more quickly to stimuli and was harder to focus. This contrast only confirmed how much Hempqualizer Compete helps her maintain emotional balance during her starts.
Thanks to the product, Westfalia keeps her energy and desire to jump, but her reactions are more controlled. She doesn’t become apathetic – it’s simply easier for her to manage stress and switch into a task-oriented mode, which has a clear impact on the quality of her rounds.
Hempqualizer has turned out to be a huge support for Westfalia L, helping her cope better with the competition atmosphere and show her full potential without unnecessary tension
