Bretagne, a five-year-old Holsteiner mare with “red-zone” temperament
Fast, bright, and… easily “overheating.” Bretagne is the sensitive type: after breaks, she becomes tense, impulsive, and struggles with transitions. Halts often ended in rearing or prancing, and keeping her energy “contained” required five days of work per week – otherwise, training turned into a battle for calmness.
Below you’ll see how Hempqualizer Compete helped balance her temperament and daily behavior.
Bretagne
Age: 5 years • Gender: Mare • Breed: Holsteiner
Bretagne is a hot-headed mare – highly sensitive, easily excitable, and prone to impulsive reactions. She used to have difficulties with transitions and overall control; attempts to slow her down often led to rearing or resistance. To keep training manageable, she had to be exercised at least five times a week – after breaks, she became tense, distracted, and hard to handle.
Results with Hempqualizer Compete:
After introducing Hempqualizer Compete before training sessions with her coach, we noticed a clear improvement. The mare became calmer, more focused, and much more responsive to aids – and most importantly, she started trying to cooperate instead of getting frustrated.
We were able to completely give up auxiliary reins and switch to a softer bit. Thanks to the improved habits, I can now ride her whenever I want – calmly, without stress, and without the need for lunging first.
